Live and work in Norway

Norway is a well-organized society built on the values of social democracy. People are expected to pay their taxes and behave responsibly. In return, they get free schooling, quality health care, workers’ rights and more.

Work in Norway

Working hours
Generally, typical working hours are 7.5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Alternatively, an arrangement where average working hours are calculated is possible. This means that the employee can work longer hours in some periods and less in others. For more information see: www.arbeidstilsynet.no

Health and safety
The responsibility for a satisfactory work environment lies both with the employer and the employee. Health, safety and the environment are our top priority, which is rooted in the company's management philosophy.

Tax and tax return
If you work for a Norwegian employer, all income and additional benefits are taxable. Upon arrival in Norway you must apply for a tax deduction card. The tax deduction card allows us to deduct the appropriate amount of tax from your salary each month. The tax deduction card also includes your Norwegian national ID number. For more information see: www.taxnorway.no

Taxpayers receive a yearly tax return from the Norwegian Tax Administration in March/April. The tax return gives an overview of your income, deductions, assets and debts for the last income year.
